Safety Management System
Doing a job right means doing it safely. And workplace safety doesn’t happen by accident — it takes knowledge, planning, and perseverance. We wanted to be sure that our employees have the training and tools they need to work safely, so we brought in experts to help us develop a state of the art safety management system. Blueline Safety worked with us to develop a system that’s specific to our company.
Everyone Has a Part
It starts with management. Blueline showed senior staff how to meet ongoing safety requirements and how to measure the system to ensure that it’s working properly. Blueline also trained supervisors so they know what to do in the field and how to do it. Our joint occupational health and safety committee is the connector between management and supervisors. They ensure that the system stays consistent over time. Every month the committee provides management with information so they can make informed decisions about areas that need to be addressed — for example, if a worker needs refresher training.
Confined Spaces
Confined spaces are a specific area that is especially important to us. Confined spaces can be extremely hazardous if you don’t have a plan and training to deal with them. Blueline helped us build a custom solution and showed our senior field staff how to conduct confined space assessments. All our field workers are trained in confined space awareness.
One of the great things about working with Blueline Safety was that it only took two weeks to get the safety basics in place, which meant that we could get our people in the field, providing service for our customers.
